Great inspiration at Decorpad

I am always looking for ways to look for inspiration, so I wanted to share with you guys this site called Decorpad.

And as I browsed through this site I already have some favorite pics....some inspirations that made me want to change some things around in my own home.

This is a picture of the entry way with a Buddha...and you know how I love love love my Buddha!



This is a picture of her seating area in the master bedroom...can you just imagine reading a book, tying your shoes, or sipping on a glass of wine there???

Picture Wall/Seating area entry???

So I have this entry way that already has a console on one side and I have the opposite side EMPTY! It is such a large wall and I have no clue what to do with it...

So I started thinking about a picture wall with a bench or something underneath...I think it would fill the space beautifully.

I have one picture of that area during Hubster's 80's themed surprise B-day party, and the wall is covered by white paper because it was the "grafitty" area =)

My DIY Cork Board

As I've posted before I was making a cork board and it is finally done and complete=) So here are a few pics of what has been months of drinking escapades....lol. The best project in the world. I did get help from my inlaws, the other so faithful wine drinkers...and months of collecting corks from everywhere we went.

But here is what I did:

I went to the thrift store and bought the frame for $5.

Then I took a piece of hard cardboard, an old box will do, cut it in the perimerer of the frame.

I stapled the cardboard to the back of the frame so it could hold the weight of the corks.

The next thing you will need is a glue gun and tons of corks...=)

So, there you go! I hope you like it.

Get a cheap frame and drink to it. You ow have an excuse. Check out my friend in xoxovero she's making one too...

The Guest Bedroom: Spa Like?

My hubby and I wanted a room that our guests can pass out during their drunken escapades and enjoy it like a mini 1 day vacation while their in it...lol. So it is also finally done and here is the final project.






*****note:

*The Boat pic was purchased at a thrift store for $5 and the frame was original dark wood, so I bought white stain and lightened. I think it really brought the feeling I was looking for.

*The night stand on the left was also purchased at a thrift store for $5, still just looking for a perfect handle.

*The 4 color frame was purchased for $10 and I bought 4 different papers to help tie in all the colors as you walk through the room.

Finally!!!
It is done to me. Nothing too overdone since someday this room will hopefully be taken over by our future nipple sucking poop machine, but until then. Then craft room is what I like to call my Project Runway escape. The beautiful dress form on the right was one of my christmas presents =)
So with out any further holdup...here it is: The picture of the dresser is really for a close up of the hardware since I was stuck on google looking for pink handles for so long. But I repainted the old handles chrome to match the legs of my table. I wish a I had a before pic to show you but it was oak in color and now I painted it black.

So many updates so little time.

My internet is finally up =) its been down for about a week and a half...can you believe it? So hohoho you all and merry christmas. I hope that Santa brought you all that you were dreaming of! So many little things have gone on since the big day so why dont we start there? Here are some pics of this years spirit at Casa De Stephany: Nothing too crazy.

Where Do I Buy These???

I am painting my armoire black. Yep solid "flat black" it is looking great. I so wish I would've taken before pics. But it is for my craft room re-do...so what I'll do is take pics of the process. But I am looking for these knobs and on ebay they are $24 a pop. I cant do that...

So just let me know if you see them anywhere else.

Curtains: Part 2

I haven't yet started my curtain project... in search for affordable hardware, so after searching long and hard in stores that you would normally think would have a great deal like the following:

a- ikea

b- world market

c- home depot

d- Ross...



The winner came out being Ross. The other stores had great deals too, and if it would've been a couple of months ago with the economy great I would've definitely snatched them up...but now days you do have to be frugal. Especially when decorating because that is not a priority on the list. Right?
And I was going to do what I did with my last window...I was going to home depot and buy a pole that measured what I wanted, cut it up, buy the spray paint, bring it home and spray it.... go back out and buy the rest of the hardware....then come back home and arrange everything. But as I get older and I'd like to think wiser...I am trying to live by a very humble saying:
"Keep it simple stupid!!!!"

My New Curtains

This is the fabric that I am thinking about getting since I have the whole light living a.k.a Tommy Bahama thing going in my house. I'm Getting them today. I'll keep you posted as I sew them and put them up.

Headboard/DIY

I got very inspired with the folks of "This young House". I am finally done with my Guest bedroom, I really just needed a headboard:

So here is what I did:

*I went to an actual art supply store and got canvas stretchers, I measured my bed and for a queen size 60x35 was perfect.
That only cost me $28.

* Then I went to Joann's and picked up Batting, the thicker kind, and fabric.
Note: I did 2 layers of badding on my own headboard.
That cost me $22.

Go home and have fun, have a glass of wine while at it or whichever alcoholic beverage of your choice.

Remember to use your staple gun.

Then go to home depot or a hardware store and buy the hooks to hang the frame. Hang it like a picture. The back of the bed should support the headboard.

Total price, about $50 buckaroos.
